04-09-2017 Recapturing the Wonder (Part 1)

Sermon Notes
John 21:25 & Ps. 72:18-20
Matt 14:22-33
1. Obedience in the unknown always precedes God’s wonders.
Vs. 22 “Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go
before Him to the other side”
Heb 11:8
2. God has prepared wonders for all His children.
Vs. 25 “Jesus went to then, walking on the sea”

“If you want a wonderful experience, take your New Testament and
use a concordance to look up the two little words, but God. See how
many times human resources have been brought to an utter end;
despair has gripped the heart and pessimism and gloom has settled
upon a people; and there is nothing that can be done. Then see how
the Spirit of God writes in luminous letters, but God, and the whole
situation changes into victory.” – Ray C. Stedman

Eph 2:10
3. This fallen world desires to have our attention.
Vs. 30 “But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was
afraid…”
4. Experiencing Jesus is the greatest wonder to ever experience.
Vs. 33 “Truly you are the Son of God”

“Prayer is the spontaneous response of the believing heart to God.
Those truly transformed by Jesus Christ find themselves lost in
wonder and joy of communion with Him. Prayer is as natural for the
Christian as breathing.” – John MacArthur
